Jon Snow’s hairstyle might be the biggest star in Game of Thrones. (Not to undermine Kit Harington’s superb performance, or the rest of the cast's.) Here’s how to get the style for yourself. Expertise comes from Sal Misseri, owner and creative director of Reverie Salon in Chicago.
Misseri says that you need medium-to-thick density up top, just to showcase the same fullness that Harington has. “And wavy or curly natural texture will enhance and control this specific look,” he adds. (If your hair recently began to thin, you can try to thicken it with the right regrowth regimen.)
Plan on a minimum of 6 months’ growth, if you’re starting from a standard short-to-medium style. But it could take as much as a year. Misseri notes that the average hair grows half an inch per month, so if you’re starting with 2-3 inches, you might need that full year, or more if you’re starting from a super-short length. (Get a kickstart with a biotin supplement to make it grow faster.)
How guys with straight hair can get Jon Snow’s hairstyle“The right texturizing product and a diffuser (on a blow dryer) will enhance this style for straight hair, and would be imperative for achieving this look,” Misseri says. “For the styler, guys will need something with grit and hold. If the hair is naturally more straight and needs more texture, the diffuser aids in setting the style so the hair doesn't dry smooth.”

Trim your hair as you grow it out, but sparinglyYour hair won’t just grow into this masterpiece. You will need to trim it along the way in order to layer it and control the overall look. (Otherwise you’ll look like a Sasquatch person.) “Keep the nape shorter and allow the sides and top to catch up so they begin to grow in unison with the back hairline,” says Misseri. “A common mistake is getting it cut too often and delaying the goal length and look. Less is more.” (Every 6-8 weeks is a good plan.)
Here is Misseri’s suggested styling regimen for this look, assuming you’re starting with the right texture, length, and density.
First, wash and condition the hair. Check our curly hair care tips for the best approach.
Then, apply the texturizing or curl-enhancing product, like Davines’ excellent mousse or sea salt spray.

Comb the products through your hair, using a wide-tooth comb for even distribution, says Misseri. “Then shake the hair out. Honestly, sometimes a good, old-fashion head shake will beenough to make the curls snap back into place.”
Next, lightly diffuse the hair with a blow dryer + split head (see the featured blow dryer + diffusion attachment above), for a more enhanced curl. Or you can air dry for slightly more stretched-out curl.
How to maintain the Jon Snow lookGo in for a trim every 2-3 months, Misseri says. You can use your own shoulders as a gauge. When the hair starts brushing against them, it’s time to take off an inch.
