My skin has been looking quite youthful lately—smoother, softer, and much less dry than it usually is in the winter—but better than youthful, really, since I no longer have to worry about random acne breakouts. To thank, I’ve got two products: an overnight anti-aging serum (more on this later...long-term testing in progress), and Skin Effects Glycolic Cream Cleanser ($12.99 at cvs.com). The latter is my new favorite face wash. I dig this stuff because it’s all business, doing exactly what it claims on the bottle—"improves the appearance of skin’s texture, clarity and firmness"—with no unnecessary frills or fragrances to distract you. It contains glycolic acid, which is what produces the super clear skin. But unlike many skin-care products with this eoliating ingredient, this one doesn’t parch or irritate, since it comes in a gentle, creamy formula that actually feels hydrating.
