Tiger Woods has spent his year in the literal and figurative rough. He hasn’t won a major since his heroic 2008 victory at Torrey Pines, and this year, he was sidelined for the season’s first two majors with a nagging back injury. When he did show up at last month’s British Open, it didn’t go very well (in fact, it was the worst British Open finish of his career).
People have begun to wonder if Tiger’s body and mind simply aren’t what they once were, a fair question to pose to any pro athlete set to turn 39 this December. But it’s not just his brain some are concerned with, it’s what’s on (or, rather, not on) the top of his head. He wears a hat most of the time, but on the rare occasion he takes it off, it’s apparent that the man’s hairline is just a shadow of what it was when he was winning the US Open by 15 strokes.
But Tiger knows he’s got plenty of better reasons to start hauling his irons into the bushes. In an interview with Fox Sports’ Colleen Dominguez, when asked about the aging process he stated, "I’m comfortable with it. My hairline is not. I’m fighting for the cause, I’m fighting it hard...It’s a no-win fight but I’m hanging in there."
That’s the spirit, kid. Now will you please win a tournament by a landslide so we have a reason to watch golf again? Thanks. For anyone else out there lost, confused, maybe even a little scared about losing their precious mane, check out our guide to balding with style here.
