Alessandro Michele is also conjuring a '70s icon with his grooming game these days. The Gucci designer, who shared his new cut on Instagram Stories, looks like the spitting image of Al Pacino in the '73 film Serpico. He's even got Frank Serpico's aviators and beaded necklaces. Into it.

Long, layered haircuts are trending in men's grooming right now but, of course, you've got to have thick, slightly wavy hair to really pull off the look. Indian actor Ali Fazal, who is currently promoting his new movie Victoria & Abdul at Venice Film Festival, is absolutely the guy for the job.

Of course, style rebels like Brooklyn Beckham, Robert Pattinson, and Zayn Malik are going in the opposite direction by embracing the "just shave it all off" cut for fall. The beauty of the buzz-cut is what it doesn't do: compete with your clothes. And all three of these guys have the closets to keep us entertained all season long.

For some guys, the question isn't "Should I grow a beard?", it's "Should I shave today?". Alexander Skarsgard is one of those types; his scruff is ever evolving. Sometimes it's long, sometimes it's short, sometimes it's gone. It certainly helps that he looks good during every stage of the beard-growing process. Must be nice.
