Not too long before the models hit the runway, we caught grooming expert Sabrina Michaels working her magic backstage at Todd Snyder. Put in charge of creating dos in-line with Snyder’s vision, she gave a lineup of guys a mix of easy styles suitable for the fashion week spotlight or the everyday. Read to find out how she achieved the laid back hair you saw in the show and what you need to pull it off yourself.

Slideshow: See every look from Todd Snyder’s Fall-Winter 2015 Collection.

The look: Todd’s inspiration was back to the basics and he really wanted the guys to look like themselves, so if they wear their hair back, we put it back, if they wear their hair forward, we put it forward.

How to get it: We’re using Bumble and Bumble’s Surf Spray, blowdrying that into the hair to give some good root direction. For the guys with thicker hair, we’re breaking it up with a little grooming cream. For guys with thinner hair we’re using creme contour so that it doesn’t look weighed down, but you still get those finger marks so it doesn’t look too perfect.

Three products every guy should have:

Sumotech, it has strength perfect for short hair, you can use it for texture, or to slick it back.

Grooming Creme, we like to use it on the neck to shave instead of your typical shaving cream and then use a straight razor to clean up the neckline.

Cityswept, I love cutting with Cityswept in wet hair. It’s a finisher, but I just love how it leaves the hair when I cut with it. It doesn’t have shine, but it has a tackiness to it, so it absorbs into the hair when it’s wet.
