While many guys find a look they like and stick to it for years, sometimes decades (hi, dads), there are others who consider their head a canvas for their own artistic whims. Paul Rudd is one of those types. He’s stepped out in front of photographers in no less than four distinct grooming looks this summer, and each one has been pretty fantastic.
For the Captain America press tour in April and May of this year, Rudd rocked a grown-out beard and wavy hair. We don’t blame him for wanting to put on an extra macho show—there were basically eight leading men in the movie.
In June, for the premiere of The Fundamentals of Caring, Rudd shaved and got himself a high fade. He definitely has the hair texture to pull off the long-on-top thing, but we're starting to reach peak high fade in this country. Rudd may have just tipped the scales.
Rudd’s short beard and hair at the New York premiere of Sausage Party had a certain sophistication (ironically enough) that his previous looks didn’t have. Add a pair of handsome glasses and a perfectly cut David Hart suit into the mix, and you’ve got dashing movie-star stuff.
Just when we thought Rudd had found his perfect grooming look, he rolled up to the Los Angeles premiere of the film five days later (i.e. last night) with a ’70s ’stache carved out of his beard. We support the move, if only because we appreciate the man keeping us on our toes. We should all be so free.
