Brad Pitt (who you may know as one-half of former Hollywood power couple Brangelina) has been laying low lately. But the man still has a movie to promote, Allied, and he fulfilled his duty the other evening in California, by stepping out on the red carpet with his costar Marion Cotillard in a dark suit, white shirt (both by Tom Ford) and, God love him, a goatee. And Pitt knew that in a time of political unrest, cultural anxiety, and general existential despair, a new haircut would be the perfect distraction (maybe?).

"Brad’s cut is boyish, which is on trend right now," says Jon Reyman, a master hairstylist and founder of Spoke & Weal salon in New York City. "His hair is cut shorter on the perimeter and sides and kept longer throughout the crown (or the top of the head) and one length. Removing some weight from the hair gives it a fuller more textured look." The good news? Anyone with a full head of hair and just a little length can make this work for them at the local barber.

But then there's the question of what to do once you're home. "In terms of styling, Brad’s hair does not look styled in the traditional sense. I do not see product or combing." Turns out, that if you look like a damn Greek statue, you can forgo the dime-size dollop of product before stepping out on the red carpet from time to time. "It's refreshing and youthful and no overthought or overdone." Must be good to be Brad Pitt.
