It's hard finding music that all generations can agree on. (Sure, a universal hate of dubstep transcends age. But it's easier to hate than to love.) You don't like your parents' music; your parents think your music is stupid. Oh, but who can bridge this generational divide?
The answer is Silento, through his beautiful ballad "Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)" and the power of dance. Behold:
They even crush the "break your legs" part without breaking any legs! If that didn't make you smile, you're probably the type of person who gets all defensive about dubstep.
First, we had pantless babies dancing to Silento. Now we have a room full of senior citizens whose cumulative age has to be somewhere near 1,254. Has there ever been a better advertisement for an assisted-care facility? This particular spot is called "The Residence Senior Living," it's in Puerto Rico (!!), and its activities include Water Aerobics on Mondays, Bingo on Tuesdays, and Getting Turnt on Wednesdays. That's something we can all get behind, young and old alike. Even you, Alan Simpson.
