Shia LaBeouf Has an Epic Afro

When Shia LaBeouf isn't taking down Soulja Boy, Drake, and Lil Yachty behind the mic or getting married in Las Vegas, he's spending time in front of the camera as a very good actor. Next September, he'll be on the big screen again as John McEnroe in Borg vs. McEnroe, which centers around the epic duel between the rivals at Wimbledon in 1980. We've already been pleased with the few shots of LaBeouf on court doing his best to embody the physical swagger of McEnroe, but now we're privy to even more epic LaBeouf photos from the film which have surfaced over the past few days.

As you can see, LaBeouf's hair is on point as McEnroe, channeling the perfect curly 'fro needed to embody the legendary tennis star. (That said: Don't expect to see "How to Get a Perm"on GQ.com anytime soon.) In general, hair has been a big part of LaBeouf's recent roles, most notably in American Honey, a film in which he sported a full-on rattail. And for the style-minded men out there, LaBeouf's track jackets have been across-the-board excellent in the Borg vs. McEnroe photos (not to mention extremely on-trend). And to top it all off, these new promo photos show LaBeouf embracing McEnroe's gold chain, which dangles gently from his mouth in this latest photo. We're not sure this photo's at the same heartthrob level as when LaBeouf was fighting alien robots in a yellow Camaro, but maybe big-ass hair and thin gold chains are some people's thing.

Now, as a publication that more or less admires LaBeouf's unique sense of style, we have to wonder what great effect the McEnroe role will have on his style long-term. Since taking on the role, the 30-year-old actor has basically only worn a pair of white Nikes like John McEnroe's own. It's a good look on the guy, and if the movie's a hit, we hope Shia LaBeouf will bust out the track jacket steez full time. (He can leave the short shorts on set, though.)
