Welcome to another edition of Grooming Gods; a weekly recap of the best celebrity haircuts, beards, and other grooming adventures, courtesy of our favorite stylish gentlemen across the globe. This week's best looks were thoughtful, considered, and would not have been possible without the right hair products. Unruly is cool and all, but these guys are a reminder that a little grooming effort can produce even better results.
Rocking a full beard and keeping it well-groomed is always a good move, but there's a point at which the look can veer into costume territory. You don't want that. Jon Hamm gets around the theatrical vibe with a haircut that makes full use of his cowlick, allow it to spike up in the front with abandon. Don Draper would have pasted that thing down with some industrial-grade pomade, but Hamm lives in the present, and knows that a little messiness goes a long way.
Let's just take a moment to appreciate newly minted GQ cover star James Harden's beard. Professional athletes, basketball players especially, are known to rock intimidating—and sometimes downright crazy—grooming looks. What we like about Harden's signature XXL beard and perfectly faded haircut is that it's wild but still completely, uniquely him.
The warm lighting at the Seoul premiere of Avengers Infinity War might have something to do with this, but Tom Hiddleston and Benedict Cumberbatch's coordinating auburn-red hair was really something. Here's proof that being well-groomed isn't always about getting the most of-the-moment cut or doing anything particularly special with your facial hair. If your hair color is rich and vibrant instead of flat, it'll make you look like you belong on a red carpet.
Miguel is always a fun dude to watch perform. Not only can he dance, and sing, and dance and sing at the same time, but his style never disappoints. This week, during a show at the Greek Theatre, Miguel's sectioned braids fell in sync with his strap-heavy jacket and pants creating a look that was pure magazine-editorial material. Every turn and dance move was like its own double-page spread.
Olympic ice skating champion Adam Rippon and his universally loved eyebrows attended the GLAAD Media Awards this week, and looked like a million bucks. Part of what makes Rippon's pair so enviable is that they are thick without being distractingly sculpted. The trick is removing stray hairs from the top, middle, and outer edges of your brows, and leaving the bottoms of them a little more wild. Or, just take this photo to a barber or groomer and call it a day.
We really, truly appreciate the fact that men's grooming has gotten more natural, weirder, and wilder over the last couple of years. But, for real, Jeremy Renner and his Ace Ventura hair is maybe taking the unruliness a little too far. Dude looks like he is posing for a mugshot after being picked up for disorderly conduct, or just sat in the back of an open convertible for several hours. Still, hey, at least he's owning it?
