We'll hand it to Mark Consuelos for being the type of modern guy who can balance his family (he's married to Live! host Kelly Ripa, who's exhibiting a whole ton of grace under pressure right now) and his career while maintaining the kind of physique most guys half his age can't carve. Then again, the dude was spotted in New York City wearing sweatpants he turned into man-pris on Wednesday, and as a public figure whom people look up to, he has to stop.
Here's the thing about cropped capri-length pants on men: They just don't look good (even on the athletically inclined guys who've defied conventional weightlifting wisdom and managed to add mass to their calves). Taking a pair of sweatpants and shoving them on top of said calves looks contrived and sloppy, like you wanted to Rick Owens out with some drop-crotch sweats but just couldn't commit.
We're all for guys wearing whatever the hell they please—as long as it enhances their hard work at the gym instead of distracting from it. Famous or not, all you see when a guy wears man-pris is a cry for attention. And attention is something that Consuelos has long since earned.
Want to look better going to and coming from the gym? Here's what you should be wearing to work out.
