By now, you’ve probably heard your girlfriend talk about Birchbox, the service that sends a sampler kit of makeup and skincare products to her home every month for a subscription fee. And you may also be aware of Birchbox Man, the company’s offering for dudes, which features pomade and shaving cream and other staples of guy grooming.
But we found this little insider tidbit interesting: One of the best-selling products at Birchbox Man turns out to be Balla for Men Powder, which is, as the name implies, a $17 powder for your balls.
Since its debut in 2012, the product has produced huge volume for Birchbox. "Sales are strong for this product year round," says Brad Lande, the general manager of Birchbox Man. "In addition to being a warm weather essential, this is also a popular product for pre- and post-workout maintenance."
And that versatility isn’t seasonal, at least if Birchbox is to be believed. "While it is targeted squarely at your nether regions, this stuff works on any number of places," the product description reads. "To name a few: In your loafers or sneakers, on your chest, in your shorts, on your hands, on the back of your neck. It is all fair game when you’re clamping down on clamminess and chaffage in warm weather or during workouts."
Balla ball powder boasts a 4 1/2 star aggregate review on Birchbox (out of nearly 1,000 votes) and comes in three... er... flavors: a musty, oaky Original; a minty-fresh version; and fragrance-free for those guys who are constitutionally somehow even more sensitive than the average man with chafed nads.
Says one happy customer review: "There’s something about going into the day with your downstairs squared away that just makes you walk a little taller."
By all means, walk taller, friends--walk taller!
