This week messy-but-not-too-messy hair and beards had a moment, demonstrating what lazy winter grooming looks like at its very coolest.

Great hair is possible at any age, but Timothee Chalamet is a reminder that your twenties are an especially good era in the men's grooming journey. Fellow twenty-somethings, as much as we're into buzz-cuts, consider taking advantage of your hair's thickest, shiniest years with a longer cut.

Best Stache: Bob Harper

Bob Harper, he of The Biggest Loser fame, is all about balance these days. When it comes to his grooming look, that means some scruff and a mustache to balance out his military-tidy haircut and serious specs. We dig the yin and yang.

Best Zero F—s Haircut: Joel Kinnaman

Messy, choppy haircuts are having a moment right now but Joel Kinnaman's cut and scruffy beard are a new level of DGAF. Still, we're here for it. When you're a Swedish guy with model looks, you can embrace a little bit of road-trip unkemptness and still look great. Other guys, approach with caution.

Aml Ameen brought his A-game to the Sundance circuit, rolling up in looks that were sharp but not too dressed up for Park City either. The same is true of his fade and Van Dyke beard, which is impeccably groomed without relying on severe lines.

Steven Yuen has always done his great hair justice by sticking with longer cuts that show the world what he's working with. But at Sundance this week he really let the messiness and volume take over, instead of grooming it into submission with pomade and a strong side part. Even if it's just temporary, we dig the waves.
