On Saturday night, Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda took his final curtain call after nearly two years of starring in the critically acclaimed production. His first move before heading to the after-party was to cut off his long hair. Because when it’s time to cut your hair, it’s time to cut your hair. It’s like breaking up with someone: When you realize you need to do it, you need to do it immediately. And you need to do it before you get to the party.

Because Miranda is a man of the stage, and because dudes with long hair are typically sentimental about cutting it off, he Tweeted a picture of the disembodied lock along with a wistful caption. “Goodbye sweet prince,” or something to that effect.

And when he arrived at the party, he looked like a completely new man. The haircut was long on top and slicked back, short on the sides (but not too short) with an incredibly clean neckline. It was everything a first haircut in a long time should be. Stylish, page-turning, looks-enhancing, age-reversing.
