Over the years Adam Sandler has made it quite clear that he doesn’t GAF about learning how to wear this season’s must-have track jacket or being the best-dressed guy at the airport. When it comes to grooming he doesn’t appear to be on a regular schedule with his barber; sometimes he’s clean-cut and other times, he looks like this:
Which is, well, it’s perfectly fine. We’ve come to accept the fact that Sandler is just not one of those guys who’s going to roll up to Cannes looking like a world-class gentleman and style legend in the making. Oh snap, just kidding. That’s exactly what he just did.
Sandler ditched his basketball shorts and ‘90s T-shirt for the premiere of The Meyerowitz Stories—Noah Baumbach's Netflix film, which got a standing ovation at the festival screening—wearing a handsome navy two-button suit, crisp blue shirt, and shiny black dress shoes instead. He even wore a tuxedo—a well-fitted tuxedo—But what took his situation to the next level was his fresh fade haircut and nicely groomed mustache. Sandler looked like a younger, cooler version of himself, without veering too far from his signature irreverent charm.
To be fair, we’ve seen Sandler wear this cut before. And the actor rocks the ‘stache in Baumbach’s film, where he plays the eldest son in a dysfunctional family (natch). But the whole package really came together for Sandler on the red carpet this weekend. We aren’t going to hold out hope that this is how he'll continue to look back in the States or anything, but we had to applaud this moment of grooming glory just the same.
