Welcome to another edition of Grooming Gods, a weekly recap of the best men's grooming highs (and sometimes lows) courtesy of our favorite stylish gentlemen across the globe. This week grooming rebels stole the mic, showing off big quiffs, body hair, weird colors, and more. Check 'em out.
Aziz Ansari let it all hang out at the Curb Your Enthusiasm premiere this week, leaving his shirt unbuttoned and his chest hair on display. Chest hair is very on brand for Ansari, and he stopped himself after two buttons, which helped him pull off the swaggy, '70s look. If you're trying to figure out how to make an ordinary button-down shirt and black jeans look interesting, this is certainly one way to go about it. Just do us a favor and trim your tuft down a touch before displaying it to the world.
Need a new electric trimmer? This week we rounded up the very best ones on the market right now.
The only rule to Jaden's Smith's hair is that there are no rules. The famous skater-teen's buzz-cut has gone from blonde, to pink, to red, and back again since he shaved it several months ago. His latest hue is a bright, Joker-green color made grungier by the fact that it's faded down to blonde on the sides. If for some reason you've decided to try a similarly bright color yourself, that's a detail you might want to consider asking your stylist to recreate. Allover bright color can look Photoshopped in odd and unsettling way.
Neymar's Soccer Player 'HawkSoccer players are more or less contractually obligated to have extreme hair and Neymar—who recently scored a record-breaking $260 million-dollar deal with Paris Saint-Germain—is no exception. The Brazilian soccer star attended Paris Fashion Week shows this week with his bleach-blonde mohawk on full display. While we wouldn't recommend this cut to anyone over the age of 25, there is a takeaway we can all learn from: embrace your natural texture. If you're a Neymar fan you know he likes to straighten his hair so it looks even more extreme. Let's just say this is much better look for him.
Love or hate them, you have to admit that Jude Law and Tommy Lee's sons are really owning their status as uber-rich, genetically gifted celebrity spawn. Both twenty-somethings attended Dolce & Gabbana's Spring 2018 show last weekend and accented their over-the-top formalwear with brushed-back, '50s hair. While the grooming move accentuated their baby faces a little bit, it looked pretty sharp. If you've got somewhere swanky to be, and you can grow a full beard, copping this look isn't the worst idea in the world. Those patterned outfits might be hard to pull off but some pomade-heavy hair is not. And you don't even have to be famous on Instagram to try it out.
Justin Hopwood's Shaved HeadThis week we interviewed Justin Hopwood; the famous Ralph Lauren model who recently lost his hair to alopecia. Hopwood (and the people that employ him) might still be coming to terms with his newly shaved head and its various bald spots, but we think he still looks pretty darn good. Pretty darn great, actually. When your hair has other plans (namely, to not exist), a buzz-cut is always a good look. That and a very expensive bomber jacket with a shearling collar.
