Today while promoting his new film Despicable Me 3 at BBC Studios in London, Steve Carell unveiled a full head of short slicked-back gray hair that took him from regular brown-haired actor to worldly leading man/grooming god. To be frank, there are a lot of women (this writer included) who will wonder how Steve Carell got so damn hot overnight. Just like there're a lot of GQ staffers wondering whether or not his newfound gray mane is natural, or for a role. Carell has several non-animated films forthcoming, and while one seems to require a more silver set of follicles, we just can't know for sure — yet. And honestly, judging by how good he looks, we're not sure we care either way.
Very few men look forward to going gray but many, once they get there, embrace their inner Roger Sterling. Why? Because women think it's hot and other men think it looks cool. But also, because it launches men who spent a lifetime with hair the color of every other dude into a sophisticated grooming spotlight. In short, they stand out. Steve Carell with gray hair is a long way away from the guy he played opposite Ryan Gosling in Crazy Stupid Love. That guy was lovable but very basic, this new Carell is anything but. And just look at how this new hair color ramps up the style of his very solid but kinda tame summer fit.
So, if you're one of those guys who is lucky enough to share Steve Carell's silver mane, let him and this outfit be a lesson to you. Nothing compliments a mature man's grooming game like well-fitting menswear, a baller watch, a pair of luxe leather sneakers, and some classic (prescription) shades.
