Brooklyn Beckham Turned 18 and Promptly Got A Whole Bunch of Tattoos

Most men have mixed feelings about turning into their fathers as they get older. Not Brooklyn Beckham! The teen literally and figuratively borrows from his dad when it comes to style, from his love of field jackets and flat caps to his affinity for pinky rings. And now Brooklyn is following in his old man’s footsteps when it comes to tattoos, too.

Brooklyn turned 18 in March—in most US states (and the UK), the legal age to get a tattoo. So Brooklyn got to work. Less than a month after his birthday, he became the owner of a Native American chief on his forearm. The portrait, which has been criticized for cultural appropriation, is similar to the one his father has on his ribcage. It was also inked by the same artist, Mark Mahoney, who most recently gave David a horse head tattoo on his neck.

Fast forward five months and Brooklyn has gone under the gun another six times. It seems likely that he plans to be as heavily inked as David, who has something like forty tattoos at this point.

Brooklyn’s second tattoo came a week after the first. It’s an extremely literal shout-out to his love of photography, inked by another LA artist to the stars, Doctor Woo.

Doctor Woo did the next two, too. A compass on Brooklyn's forearm—because men love navigation and nautical icons—and a bald eagle on his hand, because birds are cool.

Since mid-July, Brooklyn has added a touch of—let's call it romance, in the form of three fresh tattoos: A rose on his ribcage, inked by Mahoney, a small chest tattoo that reads "Mama's Boy", and one more on his foot that reads "Made in England" in old type.

The Internet gave Brooklyn a healthy slamming for the last one, since it's widely believed that he was conceived in, uh, Brooklyn. According to mom's biography, however, he was not. Brooklyn is actually where Victoria discovered she was pregnant. Score one for accuracy in tattooing.

So what's left for Brooklyn? A mountain range? A lion's head? A lover's name in small script, to be covered up at a later date? Or maybe some more tats to match dad? Only time—and Instagram, and a horde of teenage fans–will tell.
